Bringing Sci-Fi to Life: 3D Design for ICE – A Thousand Suns
For a recent short film, ICE – A Thousand Suns, I had the opportunity to elevate a licensed concept of a sci-fi spaceship into a high-end, fully functional model fit for visual effects. Drawing inspiration from heavy excavation equipment, I integrated mechanical designs for the landing gear and wings into the ship’s hull. The lift, cleverly concealed within the cockpit, maintained the design’s aesthetic from all key angles. Attention to detail was crucial—balancing tangible, functional elements across various scales ensured the model felt both grounded and expansive. Collaborating closely with the Director, the final design seamlessly aligned with the story, while also leaving room for future exploration.
